The main page is asking for stories, so I thought I'd share a story about a diabetic I was treating recently. This is just to remind people to really check and ask lots of questions when a client fills out their card and to check/update it again at regular intervals.

This guy didn't write about his diabetes on the card (he said later that he didn't think it mattered much for a massage), but he had a hypoglycemic problem after the session and couldn't get up off the table. He just simply couldn't move! So it was a really horrible situation as I had another client waiting in the hallway. Luckily we have a receptionist who was free to grab him some lollies from the shop and look after him for me, while I took the next client into the 2nd room. It was really hard to concentrate on that client when my previous client was still on the table, so it was very unpleasant.

He's ok, for the record, and has been back several times since but I hope other practitioners can learn from my experience here.
